Books...
SAfAIDS, for those who do not know, has published many a book in its’ 20 years of information excellence. Relationships feature a lot in our publications - when they work they keep us safe, when they don't it results in so many problems; intergenerational relationships, gender based violence, domestic violence, STIs, unsafe abortions, early pregnancy, child marriage and more!
In an effort to tackle this issue head-on,
SAfAIDS teamed up with Awareness Publishers in South Africa to update and
localize an exciting set of eight books supporting and informing young people,
and their circle of care, on the complicated issues of relationships.
Love...
We took it to the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) this year and let young people have a look and a read. There was a LOT of interest!

“Sexual abuse really affects a larger
percentage of children and really a big job has to be done to help because l
found out that most of them lose self esteem and isolate themselves from others
and probably with the thought that everyone will treat them in the same harsh
way. Book 7 Called Breaking The Silence can really help!”
Zaviyana from Highlands Primary
School
“Peer pressure is the power that
people around you have to make you change the way you do things. Teenagers
mostly feel the need to fit in so that is the reason why they accept to peer
pressure. It is not only when you tell someone that they feel peer pressure but
they can also show it to you by the way you act. This has now changed my life
in so many ways. I liked Book 1. By the time l reach high school l will know
what to do in case of peer pressure.”
Belinda from Tafara Primary
School
“This book (Book 8 called Family
Communication) is so good because l learnt a lot; Children should not blame
their parents. You should not trust your friend more than your parents.”
Marshal, Glen Norah I High
School
“The book (Book 3 titled Growing
Confidence) is professionally written and also helps to boost confidence in a
person. Another vital point to boost confidence is to believe in one’s self.”
